1. SITUATION

a. Enemy Forces.

(1) No enemy activities are anticipated to affect movement of units to the training sites.

(2) Hostile government and organization conduct intelligence gathering and sabotage operations worldwide. 1-108th FA is a potential target for these operations. Enemy efforts may include, but are not limited to: Human/Electronic surveillance, theft of government property, transmission interception, subversion of friendly personnel and terrorist activities.

  1. Friendly Forces. 1-108th FA conducts an Operational training at FTIG.

2. MISSION

1-108th FA conducts mobilization movement training to FTIG on 11-13 APR 03. The battalion will conduct howitzer and FDC crew certification training IAW Artillery Table 7 & 11 with focus on METL Tasks.

3. EXECUTION

a. Commander’s Intent. Conduct a safe accident free motor march to and from FTIG. Complete any crew certifications (as necessary) and FCAT's. HHB and SVC Btry will conduct tactical training to support battalion operations. Batteries will concentrate on RTO certification, Platoon and crew certification, Simo training, and Driver Training. All Commanders will conduct detailed documented risk assessments and update them as necessary. All units will conduct make-up APFT at home station, as required.

 

b. Concept of the Operation.

(1) 1-108th FA conducts a tactical road march from cantonment and establishes firing positions for the purpose of conducting FA training.

d. Coordinating Instructions.

(1) Target Acquisition. Assets from 1-108th FA FIST support the target acquisition effort.

(2) Survey. See Annex D (Survey Plan).

(3) Meteorology. 28th D/A FA Support Plan (TBP).

(4) NBC Defense. The NBC threat in occupied theater of operations is minimal at this time. All Bn units will continue to maintain MOPP level 0 per FSOP. Units will continue to monitor and will be advised of increased NBC situation.

(5) Fire Plan. Set up by Subscriber Table and IFSAS SOP.

(6) Fire Support Coordination Measures. See Annex B (Intel).

(7) High Payoff Target Matrix. See Annex C (Fire Plan).

(8) Attack Guidance Matrix. See Annex C (Fire Plan).

(9) Ammo Restrictions. See CSR.

(10) Priority Intelligence Requirements (PIR).

(a) What is the axis of the enemy main effort?

(b) Where are the enemy nuclear weapons sighted?

(c) At what time will the reserve be committed?

(d) Where are the enemy automated target acquisition assets?

(e) Are the artillery assets committed to our AO?

(11) Intelligence Acquisition Tasks. All Btry’s and AO’s report as acquired:

(a) Number, size, equipment, composition, route and time of enemy patrols observed in the zone.

(b) Enemy jamming activities.

(c) Sighting of enemy air assault units.

(d) Road and bridge conditions which affect or may affect friendly or enemy operations.

(12) Maintenance Support.

(a) Schedules due: Per Bn Maintenance Plan.

(b) Unscheduled services: OIC will coordinate with UTES Foreman to determine status of scheduled services and any unscheduled services requiring correction. OIC will brief changes at the staff meeting 112000APR03.

(c) Assignment of personnel to UTES: Per Bn Maintenance Plan.

(d) Wash Rack (if available): Btry A, B, C, and HHB will provide 6 soldiers each to report to the wash rack NLT 130700APR03. Btry B will provide an NCOIC.

(13) Movement to FTIG will be IAW published TAGPA computerized movement plans.

(14) Movement to field positions will be IAW FA Execution Matrix (TBP).

(15) SDNCO/Interior Guard.

(a) Bn SDO assignment: BN S1 112100APR03 – 120600APR03

    1. Bn SDNCO duties will be accomplished by an E6 and above or an E5 serving in an E6 position. Report to SDO at Bldg 12-8, phone number (717) 861-2956.

Tour of Duty: A Btry 112100APR03 thru 121500APR03

B Btry 121500APR03 thru 130600APR03

(c) Interior Guard Assignment. A Btry 11 APR 03; B Btry 12 APR 03.

Unit assigned will provide Sergeant of the Guard (E5 or above) and at least 4 guards (E4 or below) with vehicle for roving patrol. Report to SDNCO for coordination. Uniform: BDUs with soft cap, LBE, flashlight, and baton. Cold weather and/or wet weather gear as required.

B 121800APR03 thru 130600APR03

Area of Responsibility: Bn Motor Pool, Bn Billeting Area, and Bn POV Parking Area.

(d) Ammo guard responsibilities to be assigned as needed.

  1. Road Guard and TCPs. Battalion Maintenance provides road guards for TCPs 1,2 &3; A Btry – TCP 4 & 5; B Btry – TCP 10; C Btry – TCP 9 and HHB – TCP 11. All road guards will wear the proper field uniform with an orange road guard vest. MSG Klunk will verify that all TCP’s are covered for the training areas we will occupy. Road guards will set up 30 minutes prior to the designated movement time. Movement times will be briefed 112000 APR03 at Bldg 12-8, BN HQ.

(17) Training assessments on Battle Tasks, must be submitted to the S3 by each unit NLT 131500APR03. The S3 will review the crew certification binder with all Platoon Leaders Saturday evening at 1900.

4. SERVICE SUPPORT

a. Personnel. Turn in closing reports to the S1 within 30 minutes of closing at FTIG.

b. Medical.

(1) Evacuation as per FSOP and FTIG Range Regulations.

(2) Requests for AIR EVAC will be submitted through Range Control and Medics.

(3) Bn Aid Station is located in the CBT TNS location.

(4) Medics will provide support to all Btry, TOC, and Trains locations.

c. Locations.

(a) Conduct voice commo checks on CF1 at 120700APR03.

    1. Conduct digital commo checks on individual FD Nets at 120730APR03.

(4) OICs/SOs will comply with communication requirements of Range Control as directed in FTIG Range Regulation.

c. Safety. Safety is paramount! Integrate safety into all administrative and tactical training. All personnel will use correct ground guiding procedures (hand and arm signals) around both tracked and wheeled vehicles. Any soldier, regardless of rank, can stop an unsafe act. Leaders will stress safety to all of their personnel. Complete all risk assessments prior to operations and update as conditions change. Copies of risk assessments are due to the S2 by 2300 hrs Friday evening 112300APR03.
